Ramona Mayer

Ramona Mayer, a native of Arkansas, has lived in Sarasota, Florida for twenty-six years and has studied fine art with nationally known artists and instructors of the Southwest Florida area. The compositional implication of the sinuous undulation of line, edge, density, depth, and the perception of space are found in her work. The truth, beauty, and simplicity of this essence is embedded in her paintings that investigate the power of color and the undulation of form that will evoke a sense of both the near and the far, the observed and the abstract, and the familiar and the exquisite. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and Women Contemporary Artists of Sarasota, Florida. With a degree in Fine Art and a M.S.Ed. in Exceptional Student Education, she teaches in the public schools as well as the private sector offering Painting With the Masters, a fine art painting class, to children ages K-12. Her work may be seen at The Dancing Crane Gallery, 1019 10th Ave. W., Bradenton, Florida.

Artist Statement

This book cover work represents the circle of life with its stages of birth to death, day to night, the elements of earth, fire, water and wind as well as the trials of man; success, defeat, peace, and war. The literary work ''The Last of the Mohicans'' lives on in much the same way through infinite circles of time as even the phrase, "the last of the Mohicans", has come to represent the sole survivor of a people or unique type. - Ramona Mayer
