Artist Statement

The idea for this protest poster is that you are voting for the planet by putting it in to the ballot box. By using the Earth as imagery it covers water, soil and air all in one. The imagery gets the idea across instantly and the typography merges with the image to create an arm, combining the two elements (image and text) seamlessly. The poster has a handmade feel to it because of the use of textures. The text used is a hand-letterpressed woodblock font which has then been scanned in, it gives the feel that the poster is talking about subjects which are natural and of-the-Earth. — Roland Tiffany
