I'm a Virginia-based artist and student at James Madison University. Although I work with a diverse variety of media from film photography to collages and a range of subjects, my current practice is focused on silkscreen prints promoting social change. My work has been featured in galleries in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and Radford, VA, and published in Temper and Virginia Wildlife magazines.

Artist Statement

This is the digital blueprint for a series of silkscreen prints I created in the spirit of WPA artists in order to honor essential workers and promote justice in the climate of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a sense, I'm imagining a public art program that would address and respond to economic and social issues of this crisis, just as New Deal art programs dealt with the Great Depression. I feel that the past year has proven what activists have been saying for a long time: American workers deserve better pay, job security, and guaranteed healthcare. When I found out about the Creative Action Network, I was pleasantly surprised to find there's already a community of artists out there working with the same ideas, motivations, and historical influences as me, and I'm excited to join the cause. - Addison Bryant
