Artist Statement

"Mourning in America" is a graphite drawing that combines multiple tracings of a .223 caliber shell casing with the American flag. The drawing is one in a series of works created in response to the culture of gun violence. The title references a previous president who had a different idea about "morning in America". - David Kamm
