Artist Statement

I used polar bears to make the point about their habitat disappearing, due to the melting icecaps caused by the effects of air pollution. The idea came from making a contrast between the pure white of the bears fur and juxtaposing it with the dirty, toxic smoke from the industrial chimneys. The chimneys appear to be projected onto the bears which translates into us as the human race putting this upon the bears. — kirsten wass
